7/31 Webinar on USDA SNAP Rulemaking 

Last week, USDA published yet another proposed rule that would be harmful for SNAP - this time by severely restricting the ability of states to use Broad-Based Categorical Eligibility. By the Administration’s own estimates, the change would result in 3.1 million individuals losing their SNAP benefits completely, take free school meals away from the children in those families, and punish people with even meager savings.
 
To learn more, please join a webinar on Wednesday, July 31 at 2 p.m. Eastern/1 p.m. Central, titled “The Proposed USDA Rule to Restrict SNAP Benefits: Understanding the Rule and Taking Action," co-hosted by Feeding America, Food Research & Action Center (FRAC), Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP), and Center for American Progress. During the webinar we will provide a summary of the proposed rule, resources you can use to comment against the proposed rule, and actions organizations can take to activate their networks.
 
Our joint comment campaign resources page is now live. You will find links to resources and platforms to facilitate comment submissions. We will be adding content and welcome your input.
 
The public comment period is now open with comments due on or before September 23, 2019.
