Building Strong School Nutrition Programs in Charter Schools
Charter schools serve over 3.2 million students nationwide. Many of these students are eligible for free or reduced-price school meals. Like most schools, charter schools usually can participate in the federal school, summer, and afterschool nutrition programs and provide their students healthy meals that combat hunger and support learning. Charter schools may face unique barriers to operating these programs, but many are overcoming these challenges to provide healthy school breakfasts, lunches, after school suppers, and summer meals. Join us to learn more about successful implementation strategies and the support often available from state child nutrition agencies and anti-hunger organizations.
