Urge Congress to Pass Build Back Better Act Immediately with Key Child Nutrition Provisions Your efforts are making a big difference. Today, President Biden announced an agreement for the Build Back Better Act, which includes $10 billion in funding for the Child Nutrition Programs. While the anti-hunger community pushed for even greater investments, the investment is historic, and we should all be proud of our tireless efforts that will ensure children have access to the nutrition they need year-round and help overcome the educational, health, and economic impacts of the pandemic. Now, we have to get the bill over the finish line. It’s time to put pressure on Congress to pass the Build Back Better bill immediately, with the $10 billion for child nutrition programs intact. These critical provisions would: - Expand the number of schools that would be able to offer free meals to all students through the Community Eligibility Provision.*
- Give states the option to implement the Community Eligibility Provision statewide, allowing all students in the state to receive school breakfast and lunch at no charge.*
- Extend Summer EBT nationwide for students who receive free or reduced-price school meals (including those who attend Community Eligibility Provision, Provision 2, or Provision 3 schools). The Act would allow states as well as Indian Tribal Organizations that participate in WIC to provide Summer EBT.
- Provide $30 million for school kitchen equipment grants.*
- Provide $250 million for a Healthy School Meal Incentives demonstration project.
