NEXT WEEK: Urge Congress to Fully Fund WIC

January 9: WIC Appropriations Call with the Hon. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT)
January 10: WIC National Day of Action

Join FRAC, MomsRising, Coalition on Human Needs, Center on Budget & Policy Priorities, National WIC Association (NWA), and many other organizations in a nationwide push to ensure that the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) receives full funding in the final FY 2024 spending bill to provide all those who are eligible with WIC’s life-saving health and nutrition benefits.

WIC is facing a dire threat.

WIC funding in both the Senate and House FY 2024 appropriations bills fall dangerously short of what is needed to provide full funding for the program. According to the Center on Budget & Policy Priorities, if WIC’s current funding level continues for the rest of the fiscal year, WIC would face a roughly $1 billion shortfall in 2024. Without full funding, states would need to reduce WIC participation by about 2 million young children and pregnant and postpartum adults nationwide by September - with harm falling disproportionately on Black and Hispanic families. The current continuing resolution (CR) that provides funding for WIC is scheduled to expire on January 19.
